Sabina Cvilak quickly became one of the world’s leading lyric sopranos, enjoying an international career in opera and concert. She headlines in major opera productions in Slovenia as well as in opera houses around the world. Her beautiful onstage charismatic persona and an incredible warmth of her voice make an outstanding impression on each role she portrays.
Her triumphant debut in Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in 2016 as Katya Kabanova was responsible for her return to the opera house where she repeatedly inspires critics and public with her unique singing and interpretation of roles in, Die Walkure as Sieglinde, Die Gotterdammerung as Gutrune, and other. These virtuous and prudent emotional musical rhetoric roles undisputedly define her as a soprano with a power of a star.
In 2017, she celebrated her 10th anniversary of her debut as Mimi in
Slovene National Theatre Maribor production of La

She is also accompanying tenor Andrea Bocelli
on tours in Asia, United Kingdom, and Europe and amongst other concerts,
she performed Strauss‘ Four Last Songs with the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra and Istanbul State Orchestra.
She sang the Soprano roles in Mahler’s 8th Symphony with Valery Gergiev, Brahms Requiem, Mahler 2nd Symphony, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in Glasgow and Edinburgh with the Scottish Royal Orchestra and Britten’s War Requiem with the Orchestre National de France in Paris conducted by Semyon Bychkov and the London Symphony Orchestra and Gianandrea Noseda in London and New York. She sang an evening with Netherlands Philharmonics in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Four Last Songs by Strauss with the Istanbul State Orchestra, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Turin.
She debuted in Vienna in a Keith Warner production of Ernest Bloch’s Macbeth and was then engaged to sing the soprano part of Marie in Schubert‘s oratorio Lazarus at the MDR Musiksommer in 2003. She also made her debut at the Hamburg Staatsoper in the role of Liù in Puccini’s Turandot in 2003 and was later invited by the Savonlinna Opera Festival to sing the role in Singapore, as well as successfully making her debut as Liù in a new production of Turandot at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. Further engagements included the role of Micaëla in a new production of Bizet’s Carmen, a recital at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste and Mendelssohn´s Elias. In 2004 she appeared in the role of Antonia at the Savonlinna Festival in a new production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann and after her acclaimed debut was invited to reprise the role in 2005. In 2004 she also sang at the Klangbogen Festival in Vienna and in a concert performance of Mozart’s Il Re Pastore with the Wiener Akademie in Theater an der Wien.
In the 2004/05 Season, Sabina became ‘Karajan–demy’ and was a member of the Wiener State Opera. She appeared in Die Zauberflöte, L’elisir d’amore, Le nozze di Figaro, Rigoletto, Daphne, Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Götterdämmerung and Parsifal and accompanied the Vienna State Opera with Maestro Seji Ozawa conducting, on tour to Japan. She was then engaged for the soprano solo in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Orchestre National de Belgique in Brussels and debuted as Nedda in I Pagliacci, as Fiordiligi in Così fan Tutte and Marguerite in Faust in Slovenia. She was also invited to the Wiener Festwochen, Festival d’ Aix en Provence, to the Theater an der Wien, Luxembourg, and to sing in concerts with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Alte Oper Frankfurt and with the Slovene, Dresden, Beograd, Bratislava, Lithuanian and Zagreb Philharmonics.
In season 2008/09 Sabina returned to Washington National Opera to sing the roles of Liù and Micaëla, the latter also being sung with Los Angeles Opera. In the 2010 season Sabina debuted for Opera Cologne, Opera Palma de Mallorca and Opera Helsinki as Mimì in La Bohème and also appeared as Desdemona for Palm Beach opera, Marzenka in Smetana’s Bartered Bride in Valencia, Micaëla in Pamplona and Mimì in Hong Kong, Kitty in Adam’s Doctor Atomic in Helsinki, Nedda in I Pagliacci in Mumbai. She performed Thais and Nedda in Helsinki opera. Fiordiligi in opera Cologne, Tatjana in Evgenij Onegin in Maribor Opera and Malmo opera, Vittelia in La Clemenza di Tito in Opéra National de Lorraine, Nancy, Lisa in Land of smiles in Hong Kong.
She began season 2013 with concerts in honour of Benjamin Britten. His masterpiece War requiem was performed in famous Kitara Hall in Sapporo, she performed concerts with Spanish National Orchestra in Madrid, in Brussel Bozar with Orchestre Symphonique de la Monnaie and BBC Orchestra London in great Royal Albert Hall with conductors, Semyon Bychkov, Ludovic Morlot and Tadaaki Otaka.
During the 2017-18 season, Sabina again returns to Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Arabella in Arabella and in season 2018 / 19 as Jenufa in Janacek and Salome in Salome.
In May of 2018 she will perform as Fantine in Les Miserables in Slovene National Theatre Maribor and in season 2018 – 19, she will return to the same stage as Marguerite in Faust and Magdalena in Andrea Chénier.
